即便是身經百戰如我看到此一畫面還是忍不住打個寒顫倒退三步，啊我是來到聖誕夜驚魂了嗎？
其實原本來紐約中央圖書館的目的是來看展覽的，一個是JK羅琳的The Tales of Beetle the Bard的手稿，那原本是一本禮物書，很精緻也很童趣，另一個是價值十萬美金重62磅的米開朗基羅手工書（連結內有照片看），這一本手工書可大有來歷呢，透過文藝復興時期的古法雕刻精製，前後需費時六個月的時間，
雖然在櫥窗裡只看得到封面，光是封面的雕刻就十分神奇，話說雕刻本身是平面的，但由於刀法的層次而展現出階梯的厚度，我左看右看就是覺得有樓梯對著我，但明明是平面的浮雕，即便是純粹的白還是有很多層次的。書內頁的內容則是米開朗基羅的知名作品，如大衛像、聖母慟子圖等，我看著展書旁邊DVD的介紹，不禁開始神遊起當年在翡冷翠旅行進到烏菲茲美術館面對大衛像的震撼，腦海中也不斷浮現當年上蔣勳課時他引用米開朗基羅的話：「大衛已經在裡面，我只是把多餘的部分去掉。」
話說這稀世手工書在外面展到12/8就要送進有恆溫控制的珍稀藏書地窖裡了，真有榮幸看到真跡啊^^
不過除了看到真跡外，NYPL給我的感覺因為燈光昏暗有點陰森，這樣說對書好像大不敬，只是最有名的挑高主閱讀室除了老舊的書味外還夾雜著一種異味，就是那種冬天有些homeless會來圖書館取暖所散發出來的，不知是因為有貓鼻還是怎樣，對這樣的味道特別敏感所以也待不了多久，加上被剛才那個造型特異的橘髮阿媽嚇到驚魂甫定，所以轉了一回兒就打算離去。搞不懂那個SATC裡的凱莉為啥想在這兒辦婚禮。
兩個美眉跟橘髮婆婆問完問題笑著離開，想必婆婆造型雖怪但人還蠻親切的吧，別被外表所蒙蔽啊。

看到紀念品店就完全回到米國了。「第一次看到圖書館裡有紀念品店」，我旁邊的女生對朋友說。
不過呢，再看到右下角的猶太光明節Hanukkah燈飾就知道這是百分百紐約。
